2026 Irrigation Season Information

The annual irrigation season deliveries non-potable water to customers of the Divide. Irrigation water is conveyed from Stumpy Meadows through approximately 70 miles of canals, ditches, conduits, and flumes to the communities of Georgetown, Garden Valley, Kelsey, Greenwood, Cool, and Pilot Hill.
The conveyance system capacity allows for the delivery of roughly 632 miner's inches during each irrigation season. A total of 18 segments or routes are designated throughout the system, each having a maximum delivery allotment, totaling 632 miner's inches.

Customers interested in establishing new irrigation service are encouraged to contact the District office by using the information below to discuss availability and the application process. Returning customers for the 2026 season will receive their applications in early January 2026. Please ensure your application is returned to the District by March 1, 2026, for service consideration.
BILLING will begin May 1, and end September 30. In total, customers will be billed for the allotted 5-month irrigation season.
The 2026 season is scheduled to operate between May 15th and October 15th. The season may by adjusted by the Board of Directors annually.
1 Miner's Inch (m.i.) is equivalent to:
- = 11.22 gallons per minute
- = 673 gal. per hour
- = 16,157 gal. per day
- = 494,000 gal. per month
- = 2,500,000 gallons per 5-month season
- ½ Miner's inch = $95.54 per month (pipelines only)
- 1 or more Miner's inches = $191.08 per Miner's inch per month
Irrigation accounts are billed in three installments. First bill goes out May 1st and the last bill goes out September 1st.
Customers have the option to make advance payments for the upcoming water season beginning as early as October of the prior water year. Paying ahead can help spread out costs and reduce the amount due each month during the season. If a customer chooses not to renew for the next season after making prepayments, those funds will be fully refunded.
Irrigation is an advanced bi-monthly billing structure.
